Frequently asked questions

The questions we get asked on the first call, answered the same way we answer them on the phone — including the ones where the honest answer is "that depends" or "no".

How to use this page

Everything here is the answer we would give you out loud

Most agency FAQ pages are written to close a sale. This one is written to save you a call you did not need to make, and to let you disqualify us early if the way we work does not suit you. Where a question has an uncomfortable answer — no ranking guarantees, a three-month minimum on SEO, a media budget below which paid search is not worth starting — it is stated here rather than raised after you have signed something.

The first group covers the commercial questions: cost, timescale, contracts, ownership and reporting. After that there is a group for each of our four services, because the concerns that come up about a website rebuild are very different from the ones that come up about a Google Ads account or a hosting migration.

If you want the underlying detail rather than the summary, three pages carry it. The pricing page lists every published figure and what changes it. The process page walks through the five delivery stages, what each one produces and how long it takes. The results page explains what we measure, how we report it, and why we do not publish invented case-study numbers.

There is one category of question a page like this genuinely cannot settle: what your specific project should cost, and whether it is worth doing at all. Published starting prices tell you the order of magnitude, but the figure moves with page count, how much copy we write, and which systems have to talk to each other. The same applies to the choice between a rebuild, a conversion programme on the site you already have, and paid search while organic work matures. That is what the written audit exists to answer — in your context, with your numbers, before you commit to anything.

Short version, if you are in a hurry

  • Prices are published. Websites from $3,500, SEO from $1,500 a month, Google Ads management from $950 a month plus spend, hosting and care from $95 a month.
  • You own your accounts. Domain, hosting, ad, analytics and Search Console accounts stay in your name, and deliverable ownership is defined in your statement of work.
  • No media markup. Ad spend is paid by you, directly to Google.
  • Minimal lock-in. SEO has a three-month minimum, then runs month to month. Care plans and ads management have none.
  • Accessibility is standard. Every template is tested against WCAG 2.2 AA before launch.
  • We reply within one business day, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Central Time.

General

About working with us

Cost, timelines, contracts, ownership and what happens after launch — the questions that decide whether an engagement is going to work before any of the technical detail matters.

Our sites start at $3,500 for a Starter build of up to six pages, $7,500 for a Growth build with a CMS and blog, and $15,000 for e-commerce or custom functionality. The final figure depends on page count, how much copy we write, and integrations. You get a fixed-scope written quote before any work starts, and the published ranges on our pricing page are the same ones we quote from.

A Starter site typically takes four to five weeks, a Growth site six to eight, and custom or e-commerce work eight to sixteen. The largest variable is how quickly content and feedback come back from your side, so we schedule review windows into the plan and tell you immediately if a date is at risk.

The same small team you meet on the first call. Your Account and Strategy Lead stays with the project from discovery to reporting, working with a lead engineer, an SEO strategist, a paid media manager and a designer. We do not resell the engagement to a third-party production shop.

Your accounts and your data, yes — without exception. Domains, hosting, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Search Console and Google Business Profile are all created in or transferred to accounts you own, with you as the primary administrator, and if you leave you keep them along with the full history. Ownership of the creative deliverables themselves (layouts, code, copy) is set out explicitly in your statement of work; we assign what the contract says we assign and we do not hold files back to keep you.

Project work is governed by a fixed-scope statement of work with defined milestones. SEO carries a three-month minimum because meaningful results are not achievable faster than that, and then runs month to month. Google Ads management and Website Care plans have no lock-in and can be cancelled with 30 days notice.

Every retainer includes a monthly report tied to the KPIs agreed in the scoping stage — enquiries, cost per acquisition, qualified traffic and rankings, depending on the programme. Reports are written in plain language with the recommendation for the next month, and you keep live access to the underlying dashboards the whole time.

Often, yes. If the platform is sound and the site is reasonably fast, a conversion and technical SEO programme on the existing build is usually the better investment. Our audit tells you honestly which of the two makes more commercial sense, and we have talked clients out of rebuilds more than once.

Yes. We design and build mobile-first, then test on real devices as part of pre-launch QA. Every template also has to pass keyboard navigation, screen-reader and colour-contrast checks against WCAG 2.2 AA before it ships.

Conversion copywriting for key pages is included in Growth and Custom builds, and ongoing editorial content is part of the SEO Program. Every piece is drafted by a practitioner and reviewed by the relevant specialist before it goes live — our editorial policy sets out exactly how that works.

Most of our work is with professional services such as law and finance, home services including HVAC, plumbing and construction, healthcare practices, and boutique e-commerce. If we do not have relevant experience in your category we will tell you on the first call rather than learn on your budget.

Every build includes a post-launch support window — 30, 60 or 90 days depending on the package — covering fixes, tweaks and questions. After that, a Website Care plan keeps hosting, backups, patching and small content changes handled, and most clients continue with an SEO or Google Ads programme.

Send us a message through the contact page or email us directly. We reply within one business day, then run a 30-minute discovery call at no cost to establish whether we are the right fit. If we are, you get a written audit and a fixed-scope proposal before you commit to anything.

Numbers quoted above come straight from the published price list, and the stages referenced are set out in full on the process page.

Service questions

Web Design & Development

Conversion-focused websites built on clean, fast, accessible code.

We choose the platform for your situation, not our convenience. Most SMB sites are best served by a lightweight custom build or WordPress with a purpose-built theme; e-commerce usually means Shopify or WooCommerce. We explain the trade-offs, including ongoing cost and who can edit what, before you decide.

Yes. Growth and Custom builds ship with a CMS and a walkthrough session so your team can update text, images, posts and staff pages without calling us. We also leave written documentation covering the changes you are most likely to make.

A rebuild is the single most common way businesses lose organic traffic, so we treat migration as a distinct workstream: URL inventory, one-to-one redirect mapping, metadata and structured data carried across, then post-launch monitoring in Search Console for at least 30 days to catch anything that slips.

Yes. Every template is built and tested against WCAG 2.2 AA: colour contrast, keyboard operability, focus states, semantic landmarks, form labelling and screen-reader behaviour. It is part of QA, not a paid extra.

Full detail on scope, deliverables and trade-offs is on the Web Design & Development page — from $3,500 per project.

Service questions

SEO & Content

Technical SEO, local visibility and content that earns rankings.

Technical fixes can move things within weeks. Meaningful ranking and pipeline change in a competitive category typically takes three to six months, and we say so up front. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is either targeting terms nobody searches for or is not being straight with you.

No, and neither can anyone else — Google does not sell or guarantee positions. What we commit to is a defined scope of work each month, transparent reporting against agreed KPIs, and the right to walk away month to month after the initial three-month period if the programme is not earning its keep.

A monthly mix of technical monitoring and fixes, on-page optimisation, keyword and intent research, local search and Google Business Profile management, in-house editorial content, and outreach for links. The specific split is set from the audit and reviewed each quarter.

We use AI for research support, outlining and first-draft assistance. Every published article is then edited, fact-checked and approved by the specialist responsible for that topic, and nothing goes live without a named human reviewer signing off. Our editorial policy documents the full workflow.

Full detail on scope, deliverables and trade-offs is on the SEO & Content page — from $1,500 per month.

Service questions

Google Ads & Paid Media

Search, Performance Max and paid social managed against CPA targets.

Yours. We build in an account you own and add ourselves as managers. Your billing, your data, your history. If you stop working with us we remove our access and everything stays exactly where it is — no hostage-taking, no rebuilding from zero.

It depends entirely on your cost per click and how many enquiries you need. As a rule of thumb, below roughly $1,500 a month in media spend there is rarely enough data to optimise properly, and an SEO or conversion-focused programme is usually the better investment. We will tell you if that is your situation.

Yes. Management starts at $950 per month and is separate from media spend, which you pay directly to Google on your own card. We never mark up media, and we never take a hidden percentage of your budget.

Against the cost-per-acquisition and return-on-ad-spend targets we agree before launch, with conversion tracking configured so you can verify the numbers independently in your own account. Where sales close offline, we work with you to feed qualified-lead and closed-won data back into the account.

Full detail on scope, deliverables and trade-offs is on the Google Ads & Paid Media page — from $950 per month + ad spend.

Service questions

Managed Hosting & Care

Monitored hosting, backups, patching and a named point of contact.

Managed cloud hosting with SSL, daily off-site backups with periodically tested restores, security patching, malware and uptime monitoring with alerting, and a monthly allowance of content and copy updates handled by a named contact.

We target 99.9% monthly availability excluding scheduled maintenance, which is announced in advance and run outside US business hours. If we fall short, the specific remedy is set out in your service agreement rather than buried in fine print.

Usually yes. We run a short technical review first — platform, dependencies, plugin health and security posture — and tell you honestly what we can support and what would need remediation before migration.

Care plan requests are acknowledged within one business day, and anything affecting availability or security is treated as urgent and picked up immediately during business hours. Response and resolution targets are written into your plan.

Full detail on scope, deliverables and trade-offs is on the Managed Hosting & Care page — from $95 per month.

Why there are no guarantees on this page

You will notice what is missing: no promised ranking positions, no claimed conversion uplift, no percentage improvements attributed to anonymous clients. That is deliberate. Nobody can guarantee a position in Google's results, and a number without a named, verifiable source is decoration rather than evidence.

What we will commit to is specific and checkable: a defined scope of work, reporting against KPIs agreed before we start, accounts in your name, and the right to leave once any minimum term is served. How we write and review anything we publish is documented in our editorial policy, and the standards our builds are tested against are set out on the accessibility page.

Working through a specific problem rather than choosing a supplier? The blog covers the same ground in more depth, written by the people who do the work.

Not covered above

Still have a question?

Ask it directly. You will get an answer from someone who does the work, not a sales qualifier reading from a script — and if the honest answer is that we are not the right fit, you will get that instead.

The fastest route is the contact page: tell us what is not working and roughly what you are trying to achieve. We reply within one business day and, if it looks like a fit, run a 30-minute discovery call at no cost. Prefer to talk first? Call during business hours and you will reach the team directly.

Four details make the first reply far more useful than a generic one: your website address, what you want more of — calls, quote requests, online orders — roughly what you are already spending on marketing each month, and the deadline you are working to, if there is one. With those we can usually tell you on the first exchange whether the constraint is the site, the search visibility, the ad account or the offer itself, and which of the four is worth spending money on first. Without them, any answer is guesswork dressed up as advice.

If your question is about a specific number rather than how we work, say which one. Every published figure on this site has something behind it — a scope on the pricing page, a stage on the process page, or a measurement definition on the results page — and we would rather walk you through the reasoning than have you take a starting price on trust.
