Web design & development
Small business web design built to load fast and convert
A custom site designed around how your customers actually decide — then engineered to load quickly, work on any device and pass accessibility review before it ever goes live.
From $3,500 per project. Typically 4–5 weeks for a Starter build, 6–8 for a Growth build, and 8–16 for custom or e-commerce work.
What you get
- A site that loads in about a second on a mid-range phone
- A clear conversion path on every page that matters commercially
- Search-ready structure, metadata and schema from day one
- Tested against WCAG 2.2 AA before launch, not after a complaint
- A CMS your team can actually use, with documentation
- Full ownership of the domain, hosting, code and content
Most small business websites are judged in under three seconds, usually on a phone, often on a poor connection. The visitor is not reading your mission statement. They are looking for one thing: evidence that you can solve their problem, and an obvious way to start.
So we build in that order. Structure and message first, then design, then the lightest technical implementation that delivers it. The result is a site that loads fast, says the right thing, and makes the next step impossible to miss.
Scope
What's included
The exact mix is set from your audit, and whatever we agree is written into the scope before work starts.
Strategy & structure

- Conversion path mapping for each audience
- Keyword and search-intent research feeding the architecture
Design & content
- High-fidelity designs for every unique template
- Mobile and desktop designed together, not sequentially
- Conversion copywriting on Growth and Custom builds
- A reusable component and style guide
- Two structured revision rounds
Build & launch
- Semantic HTML, minimal JavaScript, no page-builder bloat
- Responsive images, lazy loading and a performance budget
- Forms with spam protection and reliable delivery
- GA4, Search Console and conversion tracking configured
- Structured data, sitemap, robots and redirect mapping
- Staging site for sign-off before anything goes live
Quality assurance
- Core Web Vitals measured on real device profiles
- Keyboard-only and screen-reader passes
- Colour contrast verified against WCAG 2.2 AA
- Cross-browser rendering on current Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge

From experience
What we actually optimise for
Core Web Vitals are the clearest example of why implementation detail matters. Largest Contentful Paint is usually decided by whether the hero image is correctly sized, preloaded and served in a modern format — not by which framework you chose. Cumulative Layout Shift is nearly always dimensions missing from images and embeds, plus web fonts swapping in without a metric-matched fallback. Interaction to Next Paint is decided by how much JavaScript is competing for the main thread when someone taps a button.
None of that is exotic. It is discipline: set a performance budget before design starts, measure every template against it, and refuse to ship the one that blows it. The reason so many SMB sites are slow is not that speed is hard — it is that nobody was accountable for it.
The same is true of accessibility. Semantic landmarks, real labels on form fields, focus states you can see, and contrast ratios that hold up in sunlight cover the majority of practical barriers. Automated tools catch perhaps a third of issues; the rest needs somebody to put the mouse away and drive the page with a keyboard.
Who this is for
- Single and multi-location service businesses
- Professional services firms that need to look credible on first contact
- Businesses replacing a slow or unmaintained site
- Companies migrating away from a platform they have outgrown
Not sure this is the right starting point? The free audit exists to answer exactly that, and how we measure results explains what we would report on.
When we'd tell you no
If your current site is structurally sound and reasonably fast, a rebuild is usually the wrong first purchase. A conversion and technical SEO programme on what you already have will often produce more enquiries per dollar. Our audit tells you which of the two applies before you commit to anything.
We would rather lose a sale than take on work that will not pay for itself. See how an engagement runs and what it costs before you decide.
Pricing
From $3,500 per project
That is the figure we quote from, not a teaser. What moves it is scope — and we tell you which factors apply to you before you commit.
Maximum first-reply time on any enquiry, Monday to Friday
Lighthouse performance target on every page we ship
Uptime target on our managed hosting plans
Client ownership of ad, analytics and hosting accounts
We choose the platform for your situation, not our convenience. Most SMB sites are best served by a lightweight custom build or WordPress with a purpose-built theme; e-commerce usually means Shopify or WooCommerce. We explain the trade-offs, including ongoing cost and who can edit what, before you decide.
Yes. Growth and Custom builds ship with a CMS and a walkthrough session so your team can update text, images, posts and staff pages without calling us. We also leave written documentation covering the changes you are most likely to make.
A rebuild is the single most common way businesses lose organic traffic, so we treat migration as a distinct workstream: URL inventory, one-to-one redirect mapping, metadata and structured data carried across, then post-launch monitoring in Search Console for at least 30 days to catch anything that slips.
Yes. Every template is built and tested against WCAG 2.2 AA: colour contrast, keyboard operability, focus states, semantic landmarks, form labelling and screen-reader behaviour. It is part of QA, not a paid extra.
